September 23, 2026—Yesterday’s announcement by the federal government regarding health coverage enrollments through the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA) Marketplace do not affect any of the Massachusetts Health Connector’s 350,000 enrollees or their coverage.
Massachusetts operates its own state-based Marketplace (SBM), the Massachusetts Health Connector. The federal actions announced this week to terminate over 750,000 enrollments relate only to the federal Marketplace, sometimes called “the FFM” or healthcare.gov, which is operated on behalf of states that have not established their own SBMs. The actions announced yesterday do not involve enrollments made through the Health Connector, and Massachusetts residents covered through the Health Connector are unaffected.
Massachusetts residents enrolled through the Health Connector should continue to use their coverage as usual and take any normal actions needed to maintain their coverage.
The Health Connector’s next Open Enrollment period begins on October 23rd, and the Health Connector remains fully focused on helping Massachusetts residents access and maintain high-quality health coverage. During Open Enrollment, residents newly in need of health coverage and current Health Connector enrollees should visit MAhealthconnector.org to review their options, compare plans and available savings, and choose the coverage that best meets their needs.
